expansion: a silent auction & poetry affair

In celebration of ten years of being a full-time artist, Zulynette will be hosting “Expansion: a silent auction & poetry affair” at The Long Room in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday July 17th at 7pm. This evening will be about legacy, the power and medicine of art and poetry, and sharing of lived experience as a full-time creative. There will be special poetry performances by Sade Sade and A Poet Named Superman as well as a musical performance by Maggie Lowe. I am so excited to share with you all art that has been made over the expanse of my career as well as my creative journey over the last ten years. Auctioned pieces will include original paintings, drawings, and, in honor of the theme of legacy, there will be selected paintings by my mother available. Payment methods accepted at the event will be cash, card, Cashapp, and Zelle.

Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door. All sales are final.

Moonlight in Motion, presented by Movement Migration, is an intimate evening of live piano and modern dance. The program centers on celebrated works by composers Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Ludwig van Beethoven, including the beloved “Moonlight Sonata” and reflective “Nocturne in A-flat Major, Op. 32” performed alongside the dancers by pianist Claudio Olivera. 

The program reflects the enduring presence of light in times of darkness, while holding space for our shared search for love and peace.

Guests of the Saturday evening performance are invited by Artistic Director Kim Jones to stay for the Movement Migration Soirée, a chance to meet the artists, board members, and staff, share conversation with company members, and celebrate the artistry of the evening.

The program unfolds in the intimate setting of The Long Room on May 8 and 9, bringing together the enduring resonance of these compositions through the expressive power of movement. 

Tickets: General Admission: $30 | Saturday Soirée + Show: $40.

“Moonlight in Motion” is supported, in part, by the Venue Access Grant. This Venue Access Grant is funded by Mecklenburg County and proudly administered by the Arts & Science Council.
