This performance will be a unique one-night-only collaboration between thirteen diverse artists whose paths would not ordinarily cross. Washington D.C.-based musical duo Arco & Aire, featuring Heyni Solera on bandoneon and Maxfield Wollam-Fisher on cello, will play their new album of original tango music, titled “Una Noche Entre Sueños,” from start to finish. This album features eight original Argentine tango compositions by living composers. Each piece will feature live dancing in a variety of styles including Argentine tango, contemporary ballet, and modern dance performed by some of Charlotte’s most talented dancers, including:
Sarah Hayes Harkins, former principal dancer at Charlotte Ballet and current Director of Operations at The Long Room, will choreograph a solo for herself as well as a trio with three local Charlotte dancers - Alyce Cristina Vallejo, Alex White, and Sara Miller.
Megan Payne, Charlotte-based dancer and choreographer and also Venue Manager at The Long Room, will choreograph two pieces on three local dancers - Faith Centa, Carly Thompson, and Mackenzie England.
Matthew Seneca and Sarah Harkins will perform a tango for one of the songs.
Jesica Cutler & John Miller, a professional tango couple from Denver, Colorado will be improvising to a song with their signature performance style.
